Carlos is a small community with a population of 502 according to the 2010 census. Carlos is located within 10 miles of Alexandria, is in the midst of several lakes within the chain of lakes, and is only 5 miles from Lake Carlos State Park. There are two new housing developments within city limits and opportunities for rural housing in the surrounding areas. Located within the city limits of Carlos are a bank, a bar & grill, car wash & laundromat, auto repair shops, two small manufacturing businesses, a post office, an implement shop, an auto body and an excavating business. Located within our housing radius are several manufacturing businesses as well as service and agricultural types of business. Carlos has a Volunteer Fire Department and a First Responder Unit.

Carlos is close to health care with two clinics and the Allomere Hospital in Alexandria as well as specialized clinics. Also in the nearby towns are fitness and wellness spas, YMCA, veterinarians, motels, and county police protection.

Carlos Elementary School, part of District 206, hosts grades K-5. It is an award winning elementary school which has received awards recognized by the Minnesota Department of Education for its quality of education.

One would not have to go far to find a small town feel with the needs that a larger town can supply by living in Carlos.

Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm and some Mondays and Fridays depending on workload.

(Absences greater than 30 minutes due to meetings and time off will be posted 24 hours in advance.)

Little Free Library

Everyone is welcome to use this Little Free Library. Take a book and read it or put a book in it. While the initial inventory is geared toward children, it can be use by anyone. It is located on the North side of the grocery store. Women United, an affinity group of Douglas County United Way, has sponsored. Their mission is to help local children become educated, empowered and elevated by focusing on childhood literacy.

Senior's group

meets at 11:30 A.M. onthe 2nd Thurday of each month at Herby's Bar and Grill in Carlos.
